As is tradition in our household, shortly after the turkey and sides had fully cooled in the fridge, we started to get the holiday decorations up and ready. Zelda even got in her holiday finest last night (above) to go see Santa again (more on that later).
The tree fits into the living room this year much better than last year.
Meg braved the black friday crowds to pick up supplies for wonderful christmas trees on our ‘mantle’, which also includes a picture of Zelda from last year with Santa that Zelda will carry around and give kisses to the baby.
Auntie Karen’s gift from last year that amused Zelda for hours in her chair last year is back out, and now the leader of many a Zelda dance party.
Meg also put together a few interactive holiday decorations for Zelda, including a felt snowman board and felt christmas tree board. Zelda may have a minimalist sense of decoration, however, as whenever Meg or I construct a tree or snowman, upon noticing it, Zelda will disassemble either one and minimize any order that Meg or I have introduced. Entropy at its best.
We’ve also put together an Advent calendar for Zelda, which she has quickly figured out yields her a package a day to unwrap. We realized that the wonderful advent calendar that Grandma and Grandpa Z sent last year was not quite big enough to hold the various little items we’d collected, so Meg instead assembled this setup on our blue bookshelf.
A bit of outside decoration and other colorful bits around the house round out the holiday decorations.
